Ranches?... what is the difference? uh?...

Row crops notwithstanding (dirt farming), anywhere but in Texas, livestock producers are Farms.  "Ranches" are real estate developments, houses on 5 - 15 acres.  "All hat and no cattle", sold by some guy called "Country Bob" with a hat and horse.  So many farms (including where I grew up) are now cut up into "Ranches" for come-here's.

Germany IS horseland, always been and probably always will be. This affinity with horses may stem from old Germanic religions that saw the horse as a holy animal. Regardless of where you live in Germany (except some remote parts of East germany, maybe) , you can be sure there always will be some farriers and vets within a 20 km radius offering their services to horseowners. Many specialised equestrian shops sell anything realted to horses, from saddles and bridles to hoofpicks and muesli/pellet food. Estimations from the FN (German rider association) say there are roughly 1.5 million horses living in Germany...and those are only the ones the FN has been notified of within the sport context, the officially registered ones. Add another million horses owned by non sport people and you end up with roughly 2.5 mil to 3 mil horses in Germany...for a total population of 82 mil Germans, that´s a solid qouta, eh? It was northern germany, around Hamburg; walk a bit to the countryside and all you can see is horses, they also had these horse paths which always got into my nerves since many of them were "private", but that was impossible to know which ones were and which ones weren't; and then you had pissed up Germans on horses, I honestly just ignored them, it was super annoying to have to figure out that maze of horse fences and shit on paths, one moment you are walking accross the forest, the next you are in "private property", and there's no way to tell; where I am now is a bit different since any road is walkable even if it's private, it's illegal to put fences like that on private paths, quite fun to go across paths and farms and everything; probably a bad place to horse romance if you happen to be doing something with your horse when two cyclists or hikers appear from seemingly nowhere and go accross your property, which is, surprisingly common /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" title="xD" width="20" />

Oh...

So no good place for horses then I'd guess, but nevertheless sounds great for dogs.

If the Hamburg region seemed to be stuffed with horses, you haven´t seen the region around Warendorf. Every second building is somehow related to horses and equestrian sports. The office of the FN is located in Warendorf , too. The region around Dülmen with its famous Dülmener Wildpferde (wild horses) also has a very high horse population, probably much larger than Hamburg and its surroundings.Or , in lingo vulgaris, you ain´t seen nothing yet.. /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" title=";)" width="20" />

I never felt the German property laws difficult to understand. Visibly used paths can be used by everybody and when private property comes into play, you can bet we Germans will put up a "Schild" (street sign) to let you know you better sod off immediately. Well, if there isn´t a fence that speaks the same message quite clearly ...  Usually, everything is regulated with a "Schild" in Germany. Even in the deepest forests, you can find a "Schild" showing a black horse silhouette on a round white board with red edges, clearly saying that the path onward isn´t allowed to travel by horse. Honestly, we Germans put street signs into the woods to regulate even that.. /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" title=":)" width="20" />

One thing for sure is a definitive plus in this seemingly complex "maze" and this lack of "landscape openness"...you rarely have to worry about people invading your property, possibly seeing something they better shouldn´t . And by the way, it also is illegal to put up fences outside of settlements. To build one takes lots of correspondence with not less but three different offices and is seldom allowed, even for farmers it´s hard to build a fence around their farms.

"...quite fun to go across paths and farms..." Yeah, how about no? /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" title=";)" width="20" /> At least not for people like me...plus, you never know whether it´s "just for fun"...

"bad place for horse romance"....uhm, yes?!? Who would take that extra and practically uncalculable risk anyway? Even I never did it with my mare "outside"...in her box? Check. In the riding hall? Yup,check. While showering her at the "horse bathroom area"? Yup. But I never did it in the woods even though I occasionally found a treestump that seemed just about the right height for her. As I´m not an exhibitionist and gain nothing from that, it simply wasn´t worth it. It´s better to have a good and solid wall between you and possible peeping toms. I once slept with my mare early in the morning on her pasture, mostly because it was mid summer and exceptionally warm. It was around 4:30 AM , I led her the ~70 meters to her fenced pasture , sat down and some minutes later sprinted back to the stables to get my plastic pedestal after she gave me some rather "unmissable signals" /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" title=":)" width="20" /> It wasn´t lasting long, maybe 10 minutes or so and was a quite uncomfortable experience...I couldn´t concentrate on my mare, my head turning like that of an owl from left to right and back. Definitely not my cup of tea. But I did this at the age of 24/25 and was a young idiot back then who just bought his soulmate some two years ago. Juvenile enthusiasm with a strong tendency to fuck up everything for bullshit... /emoticons/[email protected] 2x" title=";)" width="20" /> Eversince , for my amorous experiences I prefer surroundings that are a bit more "controllable" ...and give me the two to three seconds I need to put my penis back into my pants, close the zipper, step down from and kick the plastic pedestal into a covered corner of the box that cannot be inspected from outside the box while I simultaneously press my mare´s tail down to hide from the intruder´s eyes what leaves open no questions... Eh I use to do that, I sometimes take a random path and go across a bunch of people's properties at high speed; it's allowed as long as I am not destroying their property or anything, it's just private roads of farmers, and it's quite a nice landscape; it's not the woods or anything, but anyway people don't check the insides, they just use the roads, so you are pretty safe inside, ofc you are not going to do anything in the woods.

Also from all I know it's legal to fuck your horse, haha... as long as no harm is intended, I hope they don't overthrow this law anytime soon, it's good to have some peace of mind if you ever get caught or some shit at least you have that for you, since I am the receptive one, it's virtually impossible to prove physical harm to the animal; but all over europe they have taken those laws away, because you know, people; quite fun how the 70's law for zoo sounds quite progressive and was put in place while decriminalizing homosexuality.

I said a random distribution of dots?  I don't remember me doing it.  I guess that's what happens when I let the horse use the keyboard.

There's probably some merit to that.  If only the climate was a bit, well, greener.  The critters need to eat too.

But stay vigilant; it's only a matter of time before the "developers" figure out that it's more profitable to farm humans than cattle.  Then "Country Bob" will start chopping up your world as well . . . .
